Surf the Dead Dunes in Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII |

There are some new screens out for Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII that among others things show how you can slide down dunes to cut down on travel time. They look pretty like everything Final Fantasy, as you might expect. The Dead Dunes will be a new environment featuring a village to screw around in and an oasis, both of which will be surrounded by "deadly wilderness."
While that may immediately bring to mind some sort of forest, this wilderness is a dangerous desert. But thankfully Lightning will be able to navigate things much more quickly by sliding down dunes. She will also be able to use her Lightspeed ability in combat, which is apparently a big deal. I dunno.
