Suda 51: Shadows of the Damned's Hell is more fun than Dante's

Hell isn't a place where people would normally be interested in, but for game developers, it sure is an interesting environment to explore.

For Suda 51, Grasshopper Manufacture's lead designer, their vision of Hell for Shadows of the Damned is something to watch out for. In claiming this, he also managed to take a swipe at Visceral's effort at depicting hell via Dante's Inferno.

"I think the Hell that they have is really mainstream and standard. But I think our vision of Hell is really different from theirs. It would be very interesting as you play to see the difference."

He further elaborates on their version of Hell which is "really funny, and it's actually closer to you than what you envision as Hell.

"It's scary, but at the same time it's really fun to play, so I definitely want the player to see the difference between ours and [Visceral's].

We should be able to judge that for ourselves once Shadows of the Damned comes out for both the PS3 and Xbox 360 next month.

I love Dante's Inferno, Dante's hell. The words used by Sude51 are a big "duuuh". Of course Dante's Hell is more traditional, it's based upon a 700 hundred year old book.

The only thing that sucked about Dante's Hell were the last 2 levels... they kinda felt like a rush-job. Other than that, great game. Let's see if Suda's created hell is as awesome.

I don't know, Dante's Inferno left a sour taste in my mouth. Camera issues, clipping walls, need I say more? Hopefully Shadows of the Damned can make me happy when it's released.
