Square Enix still Playing Catch-Up after Sleeping Dogs Failure |

Square Enix has announced that it is currently “struggling” to regain its footing after taking a nasty financial lashing. Though the company is predicting more profits in the future, it’s still trying to get back on track after Sleeping Dogs apparently dive bombed into obscurity.

According to the company, “the increasingly difficult condition of the world-wide console game market” is making it quite difficult to keep the coffers lined. Strong performance from mobile applications are helping, but Square Enix is putting a lot of pressure on big titles like Dragon Quest VII and Tomb Raider to help push things back into the black in 2013.
We’ll just have to wait and see how things turn out. Are you planning to pick up any Square Enix releases this winter/spring, or are you waiting on a summer/fall release like Final Fantasy XIII: Lightning Returns?

When Squaresoft merged with Enix we got Square Enix, and they've never really worked the same way as a company since. Whether or not you liked FFX, it was the last Final Fantasy game from the classic era. Personally, it's my fourth favourite, first being VI, second being VIII and third being VII.
