Square Enix expanding Montreal operations next year |

Life is so good for North American development for Square Enix that they are setting up shop in Canada. According to an interview with French outlet La Presse, the company behind Deus Ex Human Revolution plans to expand North American operations by adding over 100 employees to their Montreal operations. This may mean that they are simply adding people to Eidos Montreal, which seems the most cost effective solution, or that they are actually opening up a Square Enix office in Quebec.

"The negotiating process has begun," said D’Astous. "However, each city has its advantages. Vancouver has an interesting pool of available talent with all the studio closures. Toronto is excessively business-oriented. Montreal has an established reputation and great creative potential."
While Canada might be the final home for this new studio, there is also the possibility of opening operations in North Carolina, Georgia, or even Florida. We’ll hear more about this in May 2012 when they make their final decision.
