No, no, of course it's still the same game. But instead, he would have wanted it to be called "Soul Edge 2". He said in one of his tweets, which were posted online even before the official reveal was made, "Actually, I asked the company if we can call the game 'Soul Edge 2', but they said 'no'."
SoulCalibur V is a prequel to the events in SoulCalibur IV, a full 17 years before. Taking on the lead role would be Sophitia's son, Patroklos. The other point of interest from fans of the series is if there will be the same amount of skimpy outfits as in the previous iterations.
"Character creation should remain," Odashima tweeted. "But I'm not sure about your request for skimpy and fetish outfits." As for Nightmare ande Siegfried in SCV, "They get stronger each time so I gotta be careful."
SoulCalibur V is expected to come out in 2012 for the PS3 and Xbox 360.

This is the Twitter account of the director Daishi Odashimi (This is the same guy this story QJ.net just wrote about where Daishi wanted to call the game Soul Edge 2 instead of Soul Calibur 5).
First it shows a big picture of Sophitia's son Patroklos fully grown into a man (he was born at the end of Soul Calibur 2 or something). Secondly at the bottom of the page it also tells you "The story is set 17 years after SCIV. The main character is Patroklos, the son of Sophitia and Rothion."
2) Look at the bottom of the page of this "SoulCalibur V director wanted a different title" article QJ.net wrote. At the bottom of the page it says "Via [Siliconera]" meaning that QJ.net got this information from Siliconera as its source... click on the link to Siliconera. Siliconera also says SC5 is a sequel to SC4, taking place 14 years after SC4.
I'm afraid QJ.net got mixed up, as SC5 is a sequel and not a prequel.
