Sony to hold PSN breach presscon tomorrow

News broke out earlier about the US Congress getting involved in the PSN breach, by sending out a series of questions to SCEA president Kazuo Hirai, demanding an explanation on the matter. Now, a press conference has been set by Sony to further release information on the breach.

Reuters reports that the press conference will be happening at 9:00AM ET (2:00PM Japan time) tomorrow, Sunday. It is not known as to what information will be divulged in the press conference, but we are expecting some major updates about it, and hopefully an answer as to when we can expect the service to get back online.

Sony's PSN has been decommissioned for more than a week already after a breach in security was discovered. Later on, Sony informed the public that the personal accounts of their subscribers have most likely been compromised.

The US Congress has set the deadline for Kazuo Hirai's reply to the letter on May 6th.

I my self am glad Sony is now being investigated by a third party they need to get there act together. This has been handle very poorly from a pr end for them. Had they been more open about what happened to media too calm the masses, they might not be getting investigated. They brought this upon them selves.

You people are freaking out that the PSN is down. This is your time to go outside, and get fresh air. Stop blaming everything on Sony it is not their fault. I can bet that if you had to be the one fixing the PSN you guys would not know jack shit. They are working day, and night to make you guys happy they don't have to be doing this. Also you are not paying for online which makes it free, so they can take as long as they want. Leave Sony alone. It also took them a while to report what has happened it is not their fault not responding right away. It is only taking this long because they are improving the security system all over again, so it is not the same which does take a while. Read the other articles to see what they are actually doing.

Some hacker succeeded to hack PSN and sucked every PSN user personal data, this is really incompetent move from Sony, they didn't bother making sure PSN was secure.

Better just to use fake information.

The hackers didn't shut PSN down, they were taking all of your personal information. Sony shut PSN down to prevent them from getting away with more. Still wanna take out that lawsuit?

crap happens cant complain only the ppl who should complain about this outage are subcribers and ppl who play DC online and qrio even with or without psn been up or down i enjoy it same be for my xbox with or out xbox live or not i enjoy it only part i dont enjoy calling in wen my xbox breaks on me lol anyway cant be helped every 1 is losing one way or the other its not just the users it sony and no im not defending them lol not all security are 100% perfect everything this has it flaws

If they're just going to say their users personal data is out there in the world for anyone who wants it, it's no new news.

I just hope what they have to announce is that they'll make PSN secure.

Sadly there idea of security was a) sue geohotz for hacking own ps3 b) rootkit (spyware) + who knows what else. They should have been more concerned about security at there end, rather then what the owner of the ps3 was doing with the property they owned not Sony! They sold us the hardware and software for the ps3 to own not rent, now they want to spy on us to see what we do with the property we own.
