Sony Insider: Last Guardian Sill in Production |
Listed in: News Tags: Sony, the last guardian, tokyo game show
The Last Guardian has been teased, trailered and rumored for so long that it’s really starting to drift into vaporware territory. That being said, Sony has reportedly confirmed that development on the game continues, which I guess is better than nothing.

One Sony dev, speaking under conditions of anonymity, has a reason for all the delays and weird goings-on: the game was simply announced long before it should have been. He called the game “very ambitious” and noted, “we are working on it,” but also mentioned that the game’s absence from the Tokyo Game Show has more to do with Sony pulling back on big announcements until games are absolutely ready than any trouble with development.
This news reflects what Sony VP of product development had to say in June:
“It would be very easy to ship a game when it's not quite ready because we need to meet a business plan. Gamers are first. And the experience that we provide is first. And that's why we're going to talk about that game when we're ready to talk about it.”
So there’s your sort of vague information on Last Guardian for the week. It’s in progress, nowhere near done and will be released “when it’s ready.”
Cool?
