Sony: Hardcore gamers use Home

According to Sony, the very few people that actually use PlayStation Home are the most hardcore gamers on the system.

"They buy more games than the average PS3 user, they play more games than the average PS3 user. They also watch more movies than the average PS3 user, who is already a highly self-selective consumer," said Jack Buser, director of Sony's social space.

"We're talking about rabid consumers of media and hardcore gamers. That's who these people are. You have users who are spending a tremendous amount of time on the platform, literally spending their lives inside of PlayStation Home," he continued.

"You have other users that are using PlayStation Home as something that they do between games. They'll have a big game they bought, they beat the game or otherwise get tired of the game, so what do they do with their console between that and the next time they buy a game? They use PlayStation Home."

this is a joke. NO ONE on my friends list plays or goes on Home. i have at least 3 select players with level 15 on my friends list. maybe if the playstation network wasnt slow like dial up people would play them more. hardcore gamers play games not a rip off of the sims and pay for virtual clothes. girls might do this... not hardcore gamers.

I used to do that, I haven't touched home now in forever but yeah I would believe it. Beat every game you own to the fullest and get bored wait for a week or 2 for something else to come out spend about a week getting everything, visit the new rooms in home, play the minigames in there, get a new game and repeat the cycle.

It's not so much the personalizing in home as much as it is the minigames, home is always getting new content so while you play a new game and gets all that content you can play that after you finish the game.

I've used Home a few times... and I know people who use home... but it's not really on my list of sh1t to do when im bored... lol. I've much rather play a game, read a book, watch a movie etc instead of fake interact with people.

This isn't the best way for Sony to convince people to use Home is it? essentially they saying if you do use it you joining an elite group of ultra hardcore gamers who have enough time between playing games to waste their time on that, because obviously they've become so welded to their chair that actually leaving the house has become impossible.

I use to be on Home at least once a week till they banned my account. I was a hardcore $ony fanboy and brought about 2-4 games a week so when they banned me they lost a lot of money and a huge fanbase as I now direct EVERYONE I speak to towards the Xbox360 now.
IF they are going to ban a hardcore gamer for NO reason then they deserve to go broke.

i'm a hardcore gamer i like the playstation and i do see (potential) in home. i will say it is boring. i almost never go on anymore. instead of making the current rooms better they just add new ones. freerealms is what home should be.

but this is indeed complete horseshit. I've only ever played on Home once or twice, lately because they added that Wipeout looking Sodium game and it was fun for a couple of hours. If you're a hardcore gamer like myself, you won't need any reason to go anywhere near Home, because there's nothing interesting in there yet. At least not to warrant waiting half an hour for the damn thing to load up.

This article was originally featured on Giantbomb.com which so far has 2 articles that report the use of PSHome and while I will never use it, I feel its easier to understand why some people do.

Still Id like it if QJ actually credited the original story not some site that posted a story on the original article.

You people are some of the most ignorant, illiterate nutjobs I have discovered on the Internet.

The data doesn't say that most hardcore players use Home.

The data is telling them that most HOME USERS are also HARDCORE gamers and movie viewers. Why would they bother even making that up? It doesn't help them in any way.
