The riots currently happening in the streets of London continue to wreak havoc. Unfortunately for Sony, they are once again caught up in the ruckus as they find their DADC (Digital Audio Disc Corporation) destroyed in the wake of the mayhem.

The DADC facility in Innova Park, Enfield takes care of the manufacturing of Sony's CDs, DVDs, UMDs and Blu-ray discs. Not only is it a plant, but it is also where Sony's high tech research labs are housed. The labs, as it turns out, takes care of research on up and coming optical technology.

BBC News later received a call, confirming that looters did start the fire in the facility, but not before they got out carrying their own swag of Sony products in their arms. Some 750 people are reported to be working at the said facility. So far, no one is reported to have been hurt by the said fire.

Sony has not released an official statement yet regarding this unfortunate event, but we will be sure to keep you posted. In the meantime, to our readers in London, stay safe!

The sad thing about this is there's a good chance that only about 10% of the rioters care about the cuts and education fee hikes. I would guess that the majority (if not, the vast majority) of the rioters are people who want to cause chaos for the hell of it.

So am I, and it's affecting me quite a bit. Without giving my address and whatnot away, let's just say there's nowhere nearby I can go to do, well, anything, no shops open to buy necessities in the evening which is often when you realise you're all out of, say, toilet roll, no fast food places open, kids running rampant outside and you can't go outside with valuables because of the sheer number of muggings taking place...

Didn't know there were many Londoners here, though.

Of course it only stands to reason now that there will also be a price hike in the area to compensate for the loss of revenue that this will cause and delays in technology production.

There are really some selfish pricks out there: I'm going to get me a free Blu-Ray disc and player by looting the factory. (Fast forward to 1 month later) What do you meant I have to pay $29.99 for a new movie on Blu-Ray, stupid $ony they're the worst taking advantage of all us hard earning folks. Screw them!!

I hope the rest of the city shames those people as much as they did here in Vancouver when they rioted here. Paste the faces and names etc all over the place, there is simply NO reason to act like this in most parts of the democratic world. But, as is always the case it seems, mob mentality will rule over good sense.

what can you say the people are fed up with government bullshit.. i say pick up arms and march to parliment. rioters need to get their words across not by destroying communities and areas, but they need to march to parliment and drag out every prime minister to the street. make them listen. protests dont work. no people want to riot to get their voices across. i say go for it!

Except they don't care about political system they don't have noble intentions like that. People are stupid, even when they're given the right opportunity, all they care about is stupid blu-ray players and televisions. That's why riot and anarchy will never work until it's planned like they did in Egypt.

Exactly. I can respect riots with a purpose, but this was just kids going on a rampage taking things they wanted because they wanted it.

So, the 'rioters' chose this production plant for optical disks and what, popped into the installed Sony Consumer Gadgets salon that every bloody factory has, and swiped swag? This is beyond any level of verisimilitude. Further, they did a lovely job of pouring their gas canisters full of flammable riot juice OR in a later statement from Tommy Thompson on 5 live, he said they actually had petrol bombs? Does he mean Molitovs, does he know what a petrol bomb is? And, they were bringing MORE petrol bombs/cans OUT after they has set it alight? Tommy is the source for ALL information, including there even being any looters. So, they manage to pour along every isle in that place, look at the video of it. The entire place may be very flammable. If not, why was it burning along the corridor spaces? Did they make the corridor floor out of semtex? So here I sit unable to digest this one. They would have had to drive to this warehouse place, according to the audio only BBC reporter who had gotten there and said "this place is quite remote, it took us some time to get here."
