Sony CoD Elite users upset at Activision

While it was merely speculation for certain game developers to like the 360 over other consoles some have signed DLC specific deals. One of the biggest has been between Microsoft and Activision with their work on the Call of Duty. But when Elite was released a lot of people thought it might even the playing field between both consoles. There was confusion however with the release of MW3 DLC. The content came out a week before the PSN release and people were wondering if Elite users would get it regardless. This was not the case.

The content is still waiting in the wings and Activision is dodging any blame and claiming they never mislead any Sony gamers. Dan Amrich and Activision PR agent shot down any complaints saying that Activision never told anyone that there would be a similar release time for all the content on Elite. His exact words, "it was never one of the things listed in the official benefits." Amrich added that it was never promised by anyone of Activision, CoD, Elite or it's developers and said that the gamers had "convinced themselves that it would happen because they wanted it to happen."

Amrich said all of this on his blog, One of Swords, then linked to an older post explaining the content timing issue. So do you think Elite users should have content to access regardless of time restrictions?

Truly a damn shame. Microsoft has a policy that they enforce that doesn't allow multi-platform games that they get to be altered content wise. Meaning the PS3 gets its growth stunted (think FFXIII), yet they can manage to pull something like this and get content that's practically exclusive. Correct me if I'm wrong but the deals Sony has with EA weren't exclusive content deals for BF3.

The Microsoft Xbox division is hard and pretty cruel when it comes to publishing games that are derived from a PS background. The game has to be cut down to match the Xbox's capabilities. In a way the Xbox bottlenecks some PS3 derived games (e.g. FF13 series, Metal Gear HD collection, recent Resident Evil games) These games also become more westernized and put big focus on becoming accessible to casual players.

From of the top of my head. The PS3 platform got time exclusive DLC deals from EA DICE for BF3 and a free Battlefield 1943 game on purchase. Dead Space and NFS also get nice treatment on the PS3 platform.

i wouldnt trust a game developer that still refuses to fix all the hacking and cheating from their earlier COD games why buy MW3 when we all know that it too will be hacked to hell just because some punk cant get good kill/death ratio without cheating so i say screw you activision i will never buy any COD game ever untill they take charge and shut down their server untill the hacking/cheating ceases if not then whats the point to even play any of them

Riots usually happen we a cooperation that has a monopoly treats it's users unfairly. Acivision is a monopoly in the market of FPS's. In a free market system users would simple go to a different publisher, but since it is monopolized by Activion the free market can't dictate what is fair trade.

In other words, Activision is a monopoly who is exploiting this fact to treat their userbase unfairly.

Come on, this is Activision what did you expect was gonna happen? The 360s the most profitable for them so early releases get more impatient Ps3 owners buying one, and if they sell it before giving it to Elite users those same impatient people just buy it anyway instead of waiting, so there's an easy few million extra for Activision.

the 360 isnt that much more profitable that it would make sense to treat ps3 owners like they do. Its because there is a contract between activision and M$hits

I don't understand how people can be stupid enough to buy this truly awful game. Owning CoD is a sign of low intelligence, lack of skill, and overall careless attitude toward the quality of gaming.

Anything that causes people to cancel their subscription and rid of the game is a plus.

this is one of the reasons I stop buying activision games. why give my money to a company that treats you like a 2nd class customers. the 360 can keep the cod franchise for all I care. they're the ones truly gettting screwed. $60 a year for online play another $60 for a game that brings nothing new to the table and then another $50 a year for elite.
