Sony: Attack on SOE has affected PSN restoration, further testing required |

If you're wondering why the PlayStation Network still isn't up and running after Sony announced that it was in the "final stages of internal testing", here's why. Sony Computer Entertainment America's senior director of corporate communications and social media, Patrick Seybold, announced on the US PlayStation blog that testing is acually taking longer than expected.
"We're still working to confirm the security of the network infrastructure, as well as working with a variety of outside entities to confirm with them of the security of the system," Seybold said. "Verifying the system security is vital for the process of restoration. Additional comprehensive system checks and testing are still required, and we must complete that process before bringing the systems online."
He added, "Our utmost priorities are the security of the network and ensuring your data is safe. We won’t restore the services until we can test the system’s strength in these respects."
Apparently one major cause of the delay is the attack on Sony Online Entertainment's servers. While that particular attack didn't cause as much damage as the one on PSN, it has forced Sony to look closer into any possible security holes.
"When we held the press conference in Japan last week, based on what we knew, we expected to have the services online within a week," Seybold explained. "We were unaware of the extent of the attack on Sony Online Entertainment servers, and we are taking this opportunity to conduct further testing of the incredibly complex system.
"We know many of you are wanting to play games online, chat with your friends and enjoy all of the services PlayStation Network and Qriocity services have to offer, and trust me when I say we’re doing everything we can to make it happen. We will update you with more information as soon as we have it. We apologize for the delay and inconvenience of this network outage."

Third parties ALWAYS want to buy your information. They try to trick you into giving it away with fake websites and crappy free ipod ads. Some people are stupid enough to (browse the internet with adds, lol) give their info to these groups without reading the Terms of Agreement or probably anything. Then they usually want you to sign up for 1-3 things that require credit card info. Can Sony assure me that my information hasn't been sold to people who are going to abuse it? I would love to hear what kind of contorted shit they would try to pass off. I'll sue $ony and destroy my PS3...with thermite!

The loss of information? Bitch please, you lost your information the second you hit your browser button and left your house

Chat online? No.
Don't think I'll ever bother buying a mic for PS3, wired mic came free with 360 and although people on Xbox LIVE can be immature it's hilarious at the same time.

but i hope qj gets hit too, until they get rid of the annoying ass ad that i got to pause when i come to the site everytime

They give more support for 360 than the other consoles.
Pad? Who gives a shit, games nowadays don't use pad any more, only to choose items and whatnot, but it's the thumbsticks that matter.
And since Xbox 360 controller design has it perfectly, the pad is passable.

Raise the price on games and all switch to xbox 360 for sure, as I play more off line games any way and 360 games are way cheaper compared to ps3's older games.
