Sony and Kevin Butler are Done Fighting |
Listed in: News Tags: Jack Tretton, jerry lambert, kevin butler, Playstation, Sony, tires
A few months ago, Jerry Lambert appeared in an advertisement for Bridgestone tires playing a Nintendo Wii. Problem is, Jerry Lambert is also the guy who played Kevin Butler in Sony’s series of awesome PlayStation ads, and Sony wasn’t too keen on their spokesman showing up with a competitor’s console during Monday Night Football.

Sony took Lambert to court over the whole thing, and the two parties have now officially settled. From where I’m sitting, Sony looks like the clear winner here. Lambert admitted fault, noted that his appearance may have indeed been confusing, and agreed to spend two years away from any type of video game promotion—even if it’s only playing a Wii in the background.
After that, Lambert must seek Sony’s permission should he wish to accept any other games-related promotional work for a period of another two years.
So, call that one settled. Maybe the big S will bring Kevin Butler back since they so clearly own the actor that played him.

Since it was a settlement Sony never won the case and highly doubt they would. I wish them luck with Bridgestone pending legal issues, they'll need it.
