Sonic CD re-release is official

Coming to consoles, PC, and mobile devices later this year.

Sega has officially announced today the long awaited digital re-release of Sonic CD, the classic platformer that marks the first appearance of Metal Sonic and Amy Rose in the series.

The enhanced version of the game will feature music from the original Japanese soundtrack, and is coming to Xbox Live Arcade, the PlayStation Network, Windows PC, iPhone, iPodtouch, iPad, Android and Windows Phone in late 2011.

“Ask any Sonic fan to name their favorite games, and Sonic CD always ranks near the top of their lists,” said Haruki Satomi, Vice President of Digital Business at SEGA of America. “Sonic CD marks an important chapter in Sonic’s history, bridging the gap between his oldest adventures and his new digital exploits like Sonic The Hedgehog 4 Episode I. We’ve made sure the re-mastered edition has everything that Sonic fans want to see with all of the original colorful classic zones.”

The game will debut at PAX Prime this weekend, where attendees can try out the game at Microsoft's booth.

couple thins
1. Metal Sonic first appears in Sonic the Hedgehog 2
2. How Much People Really know about this so called important game in the series, its not that important if only sonic fans like me know about it. Damn.. more people know about the fail game Sonic the Hedgehog '06 personally I thought the game was good but buggy as hell and it had poytential but messed up bad
3. i hope this is not one of those emulated games like sonic 1 & 2 were, cuz i hate the menu of those its soo annoying after doin gunstar heroes. cuz i dont wanna see sonic with the exact same menu like when i played sonic 2 off the psn free
4. i hope its $5.99 only sonic game i've never played (PS. I've platinum'd every Sonic Game For PS3 & 100% on Sonic Adventure but didnt Get to do finish the DX yet
5. i hope it releases October cuz september, i gotta game Resistance 3, White Knight Chronicles 2, Ico & Shadow of Colossus Collection and some others :)
