Sonic 4: Episode 2 coming 2012

Today Sega announced Episode II of Sonic The Hedgehog 4, and stated it will be released 2012.

Personally I had considered the whole franchise dead long ago, and when I heard about Sonic 4 I thought nothing of it: ‘More ‘retro’ games to waste MS Points on’. But with mobile devices becoming more and more common for casual gamers in the last year, and the fact the game will be released on iOS, Windows Phone 7 and Android, think Sonic 4 actually has a place in today’s world.

Being a sidescroller also helps, as Sonic’s 3D outings were ‘not great’ at best. If Sonic 4 didn’t drag you back into the series in 2010, then maybe this one will find its way into your hands one way or another.

The game will be released on XBL, PSN, iOS, Windows Phone 7 and Android phones with the Nvidia Tegra processor. Unlike Episode I, it won’t be available via WiiWare and won’t make its way to the Wii.
