Zipper Interactive has revealed a special bonus that will be available for gamers who purchase new copies of SOCOM 4: U.S. Navy SEALs the moment they first play the game.

socom4-1

"We call it “SOCOM Pro,” and you’ll first see mention of it when you open a brand new copy of SOCOM 4 on the back of the instruction manual," reveals Jeremy Dunham, Sr. Community Manager, Zipper Interactive. "On that SOCOM Pro call-out, you’ll find a redemption code for use on the PlayStation Network that gets you… well, it gets you a whole bunch of super-cool things, really."

So what exactly are the "super-cool things" that you can expect if you redeem the code? Well the moment your fire up your newly purchase copy of the game, you will receive an exclusive access to all “Pro” Custom Game queues. "Not only will these queues be ranked, but they’ll also be updated regularly over the entire lifespan of SOCOM 4 – so it’ll be the gift that keeps on giving for quite some time," reveals Dunham. Additionally, the first set of “Pro” Custom Game types will also have the same set of rules as the SOCOM 4 beta period. You can expect:
  • Community Day Classic – Suggested by members of Zipper Community Day 2011, CDC offers a medley of different maps that support 8-vs-8 “Classic” variations on Suppression, Uplink, Last Defense and Bomb Squad with faster movement and no ranged explosives of any kind
  • Last Defense Run ‘n Gun – An incredibly fast-paced deviation from the Last Defense gametype that includes speedier player movement, reduced weapon damage, and limitations to sub-machine guns and shotguns only
  • SCRUM – A Suppression mod that offers a “Classic” rules-inspired list of features that includes no respawn, no Sniper Rifles, no Concussion, Poison Gas, or Frag Grenades, higher damage and faster character movement
  • Sniper Alley – Another 8-vs-8 variation on “Classic” Suppression that boasts higher damage values and weapon restrictions that allow players access to only Smoke and Poison Gas Grenades, Shotguns, and of course, Sniper Rifles

Moreover, SOCOM Pro players can also grab two exclusive weapons that fans have been clamoring for: The M-16 (for Spec-Ops) and the AK-47 (for the Insurgents) assault rifles. But that's not all, Zipper also said that they have plenty more planned goodies for SOCOM Pro players down the road including access to exclusive multiplayer maps, various co-op additions, dedicated leaderboards, and lots more. In case you don’t get a new copy of SOCOM 4, don't fret, you can still gain access to SOCOM Pro by purchasing the content from the PlayStation Store for a one-time fee of US$ 14.99 starting April 26.

SOCOM 4: U.S. Navy SEALs is slated to arrive on April 19, exclusively for the PS3.

and it looks like now they're planning a sort of EA Online Pass except instead of online access they lock out game content from used buyers. Horrible business practice.

i think it's a better idea than EA Online Pass system cuz everyone is able to play online, but the people who buy the game new get added bonuses.

being that it segregates the community. It's bad enough the game has changed to an extreme and already dumped most veteran players but the game also has it's normal and "classic" variations now. Which just segregates the community even further.

The beta was ok, but I'm not buying the game. I hate when companies claim these pro memberships as extra content when they can just include them in the game at launch. :-|

Its just like Battlefield. I am 100% fine with it cause it supports the industry.

screw this game with such poor reviews it just seems like a last minute effort to gain some sales by calling people "Pro"....Zipper its over accept it as a loss and move on the game sucks, you had your chance but you blew it.

The only people posting reviews are the people who aren't playing the game anymore because they think it sucks, reasons why it's not getting good reviews is because the people who love the game are playing it right now and dont need to waste there time telling other people it's good, I see no point in it... Socom pro seems to me like it stands for promotion, just my theory and your queer for thinking otherwise. Move on, play a different game if you don't like this one, no one is going to read a bad review and think to themselves oh that game sucks. I like crackers, my mom doesn't same story. Cry about it  could say more but I'm getting bored. :)
