SOCOM 4's M rating explained

SOCOM 4 has just been rated by ESRB, and they've now sent out the explanation why they deemed the game to deserve an M-rating.

As with any other game granted such rating, SOCOM 4 was rated Mature because of blood, strong language and violence in its contents.

Said ESRB:

"This is a third-person shooter in which players assume the role of a U.S. Navy Seal Commander whose team must complete numerous missions in South Asia. Players use assault rifles, machine guns, grenades, and rocket launchers to kill enemy militia.

They can also infiltrate enemy compounds and strangle or stab enemies from behind. The frenetic action is highlighted by realistic gunfire, explosions, and cries of pain from wounded soldiers; blood-spurt effects occur when enemies are shot. The word 'f*ck' and 'sh*t' can be heard in the dialogue."

April 19th is the pegged date for the PS3-exclusive's release in North America.
