The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim is already prepping its second content expansion, Hearthfire. However, players on the PS3 are still eagerly anticipating the release of Dawnguard, the game’s first DLC pack, which hit for PC and Xbox players back in June.

Unfortunately, it’s starting to look as though PS3 players may never get to experience Skyrim’s vampire-driven expansion. Apparently, there are problems with bringing the content to PS3 that Bethesda isn’t “certain” it can solve.

Check the full quote:

“It's been a few weeks, and we wanted to make sure everyone knows where we're at with Dawnguard. Skyrim is a massive and dynamic game that requires a lot of resources, and things get much more complex when you're talking about sizable content like Dawnguard. We have tried a number of things, but none of them solve the issue enough to make Dawnguard good for everyone. The PS3 is a powerful system, and we're working hard to deliver the content you guys want. Dawnguard is obviously not the only DLC we’ve been working on either, so the issues of adding content get even more complicated. This is not a problem we’re positive we can solve, but we are working together with Sony to try to bring you this content.

We wish we had a more definitive answer right now. We understand the frustration when the same content is not available on all platforms. When we have an update, we will certainly let you know. We deeply appreciate all the time and support you have given us, and we’ll keep doing our best to return that.”

tl;dr: Bethesda is trying to bring Dawnguard to the PS3 as quickly as possible, but it may end up being canceled completely.

One has to wonder if they’ll see the same trouble with Hearthfire.

Actually the source[Game Informer] is where it says that it may never come to PS3.

This guy's just re-posting it.

I guess it's no surprise though that you didn't check the source. :-*

"This is not a problem we’re positive we can solve," means they might not be able to overcome whatever problem is keeping them from releasing it and if they can't then it's not far fetched to think they wouldn't release it.

"We understand the frustration when the same content is not available on all platforms.," also makes it seem like there is chance that it isn't released on ps3. Otherwise they would have worded it differently like, "We understand the frustration of having to wait on content other consoles have had access to for a while."

Perfect opportunity to outsource it to the fan who are versed in this stuff to see if they can think of something Beth didn't.

Why is Sony not helping out here? This just makes Sony look bad.

Maybe you should read again where it says that they are working with Sony. I guess kids these days can't read.

Bethesda is working with Sony, yes. Is Sony working with Bethesda? There are at least two sides to every event in the universe just because I am asking for help does not mean you are giving it.

the problem with game companies is xbox 360,why porting games. when xbox 360 dropped they wasn't thinking about future tech future of gaming they used the same tech from its previous system jus alil upgrade from its previous system. remember when they said blue-ray will fail n microsoft got most companies to agree n signed them long contracts to 360 exclusive games. wit that said ps3 was ready 4 the future of gaming they took a chance on blue-ray n a better engine better hard drive. would u want a old style dvd player or a blue-ray player, my point make games on the ps3 then port it to the 360 or jus stop porting. skyrim is all messed up because it was ported from 360 idk y psn did try to get skyrim made on the ps3 maybe 360 threw extra money to Bethesda because of the fear of how much more psn will be able 2 do vs 360. think about do dc universe has big problems wit there DLC n isnt that games massive, MAG n yes it was ok n bad but did its DLC have problems socom confrontation did it have problem wit DLC no jus took hours to download. the reason why ported games r so iffy is because of the 360 n these companies that dont care about gamers all they want is a fatter check jus n case its not successful, also 360 jus wants people to buy its system only. 360 has continued to monopolise games n put chains on devs. yes xboxlive has alot of apps an gimmick's good 1's,but guess wat the more they get the more money u have 2 pay.,b4 u know it xboxlive will be 150$ yearly n thats not wit free games. u'll be paying ur electric bill,ur internet bill n it has nothing to 2 wit well u poor or get ur money up its monopolising my bad pimping 360 users. not everybody has money to do yearly sub fee's. all i want is equal playground when it comes down to making games stop porting n pc hell they get the shaft but they cant hurt big brother 2much hint hint microsoft runs the net. know they say well 360 n ps3 needs its nex gen so devs can make better games, its not ps3 hurting games or hurting devs from mak'n better games, its 360. its like a brand new care wit everything n it but under the hood its all old parts that dont n cant handle all new tech.

I tried so hard to read that post, but it is just incomprehensibl e. But I agree with what I could read, developers need to stop being lazy and write platform specific code for their games. Although, I think the hardware manufacturers (sony and microsoft) are going to be putting together systems that more closely resemble PCs because of this fact.
