Another politician has chimed in on the whole video game violence debate, and he said that he believes they present more of a problem than guns.

Republican Tennessee Senator Lamar Alexander is the latest politician to speak out against video games, and he used a spot on MSNBC’s The Daily Rundown as his platform.  When speaking about video games and guns, Alexander said: “I think video games is a bigger problem than guns.  Because video games affect people. But the First Amendment limits what we can do about video games and the Second Amendment to the constitution limits what we can do about guns.”

Alexander isn’t alone in his anti-video game stance, as Connecticut Senator Chris Murphy said last week that the entire shooting tragedy at Sandy Hook Elementary School could have been avoided if video games didn’t give the shooter a “false sense of courage.”  California Senator Leland Yee told gamers to “quiet down”, and New Jersey Governor Chris Christie called for a study on video game violence as well.

What are your thoughts on Senator Alexander’s comments that video games are a bigger problem than guns?

Will for one thing I do not think it was games that made that guy kill them kids at Sandy Hook Elementary School,Its a very sad thing that happend and it did make me cry. but they don't have no proof that games made that guy kill them kids. they don't know what made him kill them at all he did not live no note. they people is looking for something to blame and games just happen to be one of them. If video games did not exist what do you think they would blame? they think it is easier to blame some thing then some body.

Ahh yes, the typical carpet bomb statement made when someone actually feels some type of response is necessary, but they are unable to articulate it. "Let the comments below explain what I cannot."

Our crooked senate is far more dangerous to us than guns and videogames combined. More people die from getting infections while in US hospitals every year than from guns. You don't hear them saying shit about that. They're all just looking for a hot topic to get their face published anywhere/everywhere.

Shoot the senator in the leg with a gun, then ask him: "Would that bullet sit in your leg if it wasn't for this gun? Sure is a blessing having guns legally huh?"

Well, I think they are simply placing blame. Let them do their studies. Let them do their research. Let them feel stupid when they see how varied the video game industry is. Let them see for themselves that there is little to no relation between video games and simple acts of madness.

There where school shootings long before video games even existed. Media in general is a new thing when looking at our races history of violence.

This is just people not accepting that we kill each other cause we can. This is nothing new, just placing the blame elsewhere rather than face the hard truths.
