Sega and Double Fine Go Spelunking |
Listed in: News Tags: double fine, monkey island, psychonauts, Ron Gilbert, Sega, the cave
Check it: The team that made Psychonauts (Double Fine) is teaming up with the dude that made Monkey Island (Rob Gilbert) and making a new game, which in turn will be published by Sega. Awwwww yeaaaah!

The new game, which will be released on PC, XBLA and PSN, is called The Cave. According to the announcement, players will be able to choose between three distinctly different characters, then head out on some sort of mysterious adventure. Details are scarce, but we have heard talk of a castle and an amusement park. Also, probably a cave.
Sega noted that supporting development on The Cave is one of the early steps in its new publishing strategy, which is focused primarily on digital distribution after a recent restructuring. We’ll have to see how that works out for them, but Double Fine seems like the right company to hire if you’re looking to make high quality, direct-delivery games.
You can check out the teaser site for The Cave right now. It’s very, very pretty.
