Rumor Alert: PS4 and Xbox 720 Announcements Due in Spring |
Listed in: News Tags: durango, e3, Game Developers Conference, Microsoft, ps3, rumors, Sony, xbox 720
It’s pretty obvious that Microsoft has some big console plans for 2013. The company already has an E3 countdown timer running and for months rumors have been hinting at a Durango (Xbox 720 or whatever) reveal in 2013. The same could be said for Sony—PS4 rumors are nearly as bountiful as those centered on its competitor.

So here’s another: According to Game Informer, both Microsoft and Sony are planning big, “Apple-style” press conferences near the Game Developers Conference, which occurs in late March. Here’s the “source” on the subject:
“E3 in June may be the industry's biggest event, but both companies want to give their systems their own limelight. That doesn't mean E3 won't be without its surprises. Next-gen games will be announced at the convention in preparation for the systems' release at the end of the year.”
The report also indicates that contrary to common wisdom, Sony may attempt to beat Microsoft to market this time around. So, there you are, console fans—Sony and Microsoft may or may not be announcing new consoles in spring or at E3, and one may or may not come out before the other.
What do you think?
