2. Other devs speak up
Last week, Sony announced their plans for the restoration of the PlayStation Store, but it would seem that not all developer partners are sold on the idea.

The plan is to catch up on the backlogs on the PS Store, after being affected for three weeks because of the PSN breach. Two batches of catch-up updates will be launched by Sony beginning this coming week, and should last until the first week of June.

An anonymous developer, however, has spoken with EDGE, divulging their concerns about Sony's said plan. "As a developer, I feel very sorry for those teams that did try to release their titles during the PSN outage window," he started. "Beyond that, I feel sorry for those that are attempting to launch games in the days following the outage, as there will likely be such a backlog of traffic that it may be hard to be noticed in the flurry of 'get everything back up and running'.

The absence of PSN has slowed the development of online functionality for games that rely on PSN, because you can't test your PSN-dependent features without it. My project was fortunate enough to have robust offline/ LAN support that allowed us to test core gameplay features without online access, despite the outage. We're still on target for our original release date as a result, although we're very glad our original release date didn't fall within the PSN outage window."

People need money to survive, you idiot.

The devs have other systems which they can move onto.

All the devs should migrate to microsoft and make more exclusives. It's more safe.

Microsoft's not the one getting hacked constantly like Sony is now, plus their Xbox LIVE is much secure than PSN is.

"mr t" a butthurt fanboy? Yeah.

Yes safer, there was only like 1.2 billion microsoft points stolen recently
Not to mention rampant active piracy on the most current dashboard
And jtag units which get all market place games/dlc absolutely free
And that's just off the top of my head

I can understand the concern that a developer may have with their product getting lost in the sea of a back log of content being pushed out. But i don't think it will necessarily happen that way.

I think most gamers are going to be like me and on Store Update days are going to check the PSN Blog or QJ or wherever posts the full list of published items or sit and go through all the items published to the store one by one looking at each item to decide if i want that item.

in the end no ones going to buy something they weren't anyway, and those that would have bought it anyway will.

And as for the free games hurting the sales of the published content...? Have you seen the games on the list? Most people already own the majority of those games already. Heck the only one i don't have is dead nation. so honestly i think thats a non-issue.

I was going to post the exact thing you did. I understand their worry but its not going to be much of an issue, i think. And those free games are old, even though I dont have some of them and look forward to playing. +1
