PSN Q&A #2: Sony talks trophies, PS3 MMOs and possible compensation

Sony has released another round of "questions and answers" post over at the official PlayStation blog to update users on the current situation of the its PlayStation Network and Qriocity services.

So without further ado, here goes the second part of the Q&A.

Q: Will our download history/friends list/settings be affected by the PSN downtime?
- A: No, they will not.
Q: Will trophies that were earned in single-player offline games during the outage be intact when the service resumes?
- A: These trophies are intact and will be re-synched when the network is once again operational.
Q: Will my PS+ cloud saves be retrievable?
- A: Yes, once PSN is restored.
Q: What if we have a subscription to PS3 MMOs DC Universe Online or Free Realms? Will we get compensation for that?
- A: From Sony Online Entertainment: “We apologize for any inconvenience players may have experienced as a result of the recent service interruption. As a global leader in online gaming, SOE is committed to delivering stable and entertaining games for players of all ages. To thank players for their patience, we will be hosting special events across our game portfolio. We are also working on a “make good” plan for players of the PS3 versions of DC Universe Online and Free Realms. Details will be available soon on the individual game websites and forums.”
Q: Will there be a goodwill gesture for the time we haven’t been able to utilize PSN/Qriocity?
- A: We are currently evaluating ways to show appreciation for your extraordinary patience as we work to get these services back online.

And how do you know that? Do you have a proof?

I suggest everyone to stop pulling clams and assumption without clear evidence.

Right now every other organization on the world are investigation Sony Ass for that matter.

whether there is evident negligence from Sony or not..

Just wait few days and we're going to hear a clear cut answer from reputable experts.

Please provide documented proof on how you came about this information. While you're at it, contact the lawyers handling the case and ask for an interview. Clearly you know way more then anyone else!

wat do u mean so what sony had been warned that there security was butt and they did nothing but hire lawyers.

Hackers told Sony hey listen you may want to look at your software because look at what i can do and what did they do go after geohot(i think he deserved it hes just an attention whore) and graf.

Anyway you are missing the point sony knew and they did nothing to correct the flaws and were paying for it. you may be able to look the other way but i cant.

this is unacceptable

An example is the credit card information and the login authentificatio n itself.

Take a look at the traffic:

The credit card information should ALWAYS be encrypted. In ANY case. At least the security code. SONY is only relying on it’s https connection. With all those CFWs spreading around, this is not secure anymore. Same goes for the user details:

The make good plan is not in relation to the psn service. The make good plan is in relation to any SOE mmo like Dc Universe Online which is not free Dumbass...now sony has not said anything about psn just there evaluating options dumbass

it doesnt mean there going to do anything there thinking about wat they MIGHT do. The make good plan is for the paid services.

theres nothing bad about it at all i better be compensated. I have a sub for ps+ and Dc so im expecting something in return for the outage not much but something.

didnt really care about compensation for psn until this whole CC thing and now i better get something.

Nice that there's a 'make good' plan at least in motion for the MMO subscribers, but I'm curious about PS+ subscribers. Do they get anything more than the regular PSN Free folks?

I'm wondering if Sony is going to cheap out. "We're sorry we leaked all your info to hackers, here's a $5 store credit."

By the way, by accepting whatever Sony offers, your pretty much waive your right to sue them. You also likely lose any eligibility to damages from any pending class action suit.

Sony said no compensation in the email they sent me. I hope this means they changed there mind. I hope they change there mind on a lot of other things too. Like PSN security, Other OS, and so forth.
