PSN hacking finally makes worldwide news headlines |
Listed in: News, PlayStation Network Tags: BBC, CNN, Sony
The PlayStation Network has been hacked! Sure, that may be no news to us in the loop in the gaming industry, but everyone else is just finding out about it now.
That's right, a little under a week since Sony's been hit by the major PSN outage and the rest of the world is just beginning to notice. But boy, they sure did sit up and really paid attention! So much so, in fact, that this news item is actually making it to the headlines of most major networks.
"Most major networks" would include BBC and CNN, which are both doing coverages via their websites, online radio, and cable news shows. It's so hot, indeed, that it's even taken over what is dubbed as the massively huge Royal Wedding for Prince William and Kate Middleton.

And you know what happens when the big players pick it up -- the rest of them follows. Now the PSN outage is on the frontline of every local news, especially since word got out that PSN accounts have consequently been compromised because of the hack.
As it should, now that it's become a major security threat to all 77 million PSN subscribers the world over. Imagine 77 million credit card details, birthdays, addresses, e-mails and passwords left out there in the vulnerable open. In a world as paranoid as ours, that will definitely make big news.

especially after wikileaks theres already been a few programs and gov people on the TV suggesting something is done to control the internet due to possible cyber terrorism... at the time they were saying hackers will poison our water and turn our power off, why these things are even accessible via the internet I cant understand (if they even are) but thats what they say
thats why these "hackers" are c**ts.
because its going to f**k up a lot more than Sony. by playing into the hands of the people in control.
..and dont think your "freedom of speech" crap will save you in the u.s. only idiots believe they're free. they wont just say we're switching your net off (well, heavily censored). they'll make the majority of the public want it to be done.

That's right.
Homeland Security, a unit formed to combat terrorism, is busy taking down entire websites without warrant or fair trial.
"Freedom of speech" has already been compromised in the US, now all they've got going for them is the illusion of uncompromised freedom.
I hate sounding like a conspiracy nut... but it's not a conspiracy if this shit's out in the open. People just don't care, and the political apathy of my generation makes me want to tear a kitten's ears off. Honestly, voting in a liberal government only to end up being run by the goddamn Tories was the last drop in the bucket for me.
"Democracy" is stuck in a rut, we have a systematic, non human dictator; a false belief in freedom. Jesus Christ, Metal Gear Solid 4 suddenly makes so much more sense. The Patriots were a metaphor for this shit.
Kojima, you absolute genius.
... yeah, I went off on a tangent there. Ah well.
