We all understand the value and concept of the Playstation Store. The premise basically is that with the invention of modern servers and technology we no longer have to travel to the nearest gaming retail store to get our fix on the latest content. Instead, we can just boot up our console, navigate to a virtual locale and download any number of full game titles directly onto our hard drives. Still, this luxury has only been available to official titles approved for sell by Sony. What if we could do the same for all of our favorite homebrew? Deroad's PSchannel offers that solution.

While the original version of PSchannel launched about a year ago, it's been a while since we have heard from the marketplace's developer. That being said, for those that don't know how PSchannel works it is essentially a complete open-source storefront specifically designed to the howbrew community. For those that have jailbroken an iDevice before, you can basically think of it as Cydia for your PS3, which has some pretty exciting implications if users decide to buy into this recently released version.

The update released today more or less only contains a slew of much needed bugfixes, but that doesn't mean that this release is any less important. Now that the scene has grown considerably, it's a nice idea to get more people re-exposed to utilizing this option. It would be awesome to be able to have direct system access to homebrew should this be supported by more developers. What's more is, PSchannel is a completely skinable software as well, so any given user has the ability to tailor make the way the store looks and feels in a way that suits their needs. Sound like a pretty cool notion to you? I thought so. Welcome back to Deroad and PSchannel!
