When you have a custom firmware PS3, you're all about making sure that every part of your console works, looks, and feels exactly how you want it. However, to take full advantage of what CFW can offer you, one must look a little bit deeper than just game fixes or maybe some basic modified themes. For those that like to pay a little more attention to the more intricate parts of your XMB, plugins are definitely the way to go. Thanks to a new version of PS3 Modified Firmware Builder, you can get your collection even more organized than before.

As stated, plugins are essentially a way to tweak the user experience in ways that lie beyond some of the more obvious fundamental options that modded consoles can offer. If for example, you want all of your apps to appear in a certain order or maybe in their own distinct categories, these options generally aren't going to be bundled in with the firmware itself simply because those kinds of changes really are on a more person to person basis. Because of this, there are many different options to choose from. PS3MFW Builder compiles the most prominent of these choices, and makes the installation easy for you.
As if the program wasn't functional enough on its own, cfwprpht has released an update that will make the most anal-retentive homebrew users quite happy. Thanks to the addition of the TCL patch, you will now be able to organize all of your homebrew choices alphabetically should you want to do so. This type of option can be extremely useful if you have a lot of apps on your hard drive, or if you happen to simply be a fan of order. However, the developer admits that this update isn't the end to the stream of plugins. Rather in the future they hope to account for options that allow gamers to put homebrew inside their own XMB sections. As usual, we will do our best to keep you up to date on those happenings. Until then, you can at least get things organized with this new release.
