Strong growth of the casual and core market also helped its PlayStation Move motion controller to sell 8 million units worldwide.

Sony has announced that total sales of its next-gen home console has now reached the 50 million milestone worldwide, as of March 29, 2011. In addition, the firm also announced that its motion controller has now surpassed the 8 million mark as of April 3, demonstrating continued growth and momentum of the platform.
"The PlayStation Move has been incredibly successful since its launch, and we're particularly impressed with the positive response we're seeing from both the casual and hardcore gaming audience," said Jack Tretton, president and CEO of Sony Computer Entertainment America. "The momentum behind PlayStation is accelerating, and with more than 8 million PlayStation Moves sold we know people are enjoying the most accurate motion gaming experience available today. Coupled with our stereoscopic 3D entertainment offering, PS3 continues to provide the most immersive gaming experience for consumers."
With more than 75 million registered PlayStation Network users and a vast library of more than 2,128 software titles, SCE promises to further expand the PS3 platform and create a new world of computer entertainment.

The PS3 is for sure competing with Xbox though.

yeah, but the wii was almost half the price for more than a year, so I think that the ps3's landmark is very good...

Sure, but ps3 was also advertised as a bd player, and a pc for a short time. So, no the landmark is still not good enough.
