PS3 price drop in August? |

Sony is expected to announce a big PlayStation 3 price drop at Gamescom in August, according to a report.

Trade insiders in the United Kingdom told MCV that they are expecting Sony to cut the price of the PS3 to £199.99 GBP (US$ 319), with some shops willing to reduce the price of the console to as low as £179.99 (US$ 287). The 160GB PS3 Slim model currently retails for £249.99 (US$ 399) in the region, but some retailers are now also offering it at around £200 (US$ 319).
“£199.99 makes sense as it keeps Sony’s options open for another drop, but they could be more aggressive," commented analyst Nick Parker. “Microsoft wants to be No.1 but I expect it is adopting a ‘wait and see’ approach with possible new value-added deals on Kinect.”
Some publishers are also expecting a price drop in the upcoming months. “I would anticipate a further price cut on existing consoles prior to Christmas,” Codemasters boss Rod Cousens told MCV.
“It’ll probably happen around September and Gamescom may be interesting. But there’s also time for a further cut next year, before Wii U is out.”
When quizzed about the report, Sony gave the usual "doesn’t comment on rumour or speculation." Earlier this year, former SCEE UK chief Ray Maguire told OPM UK they are looking to cut the price of the PS3 in the UK.

If you are going to do that then also compare what an average McDonalds employee makes in all these countries.
The only way these comparisons make any sense is if you plan to import. That's your fault if you do.
