OMG YES: The Return of Road Rash

Do you remember Road Rash? If not, let me give you a quick briefing: In Road Rash, you participated in motorcycle races. But they weren’t just races—they were brutal battles to the death. Using weapons picked up from other riders, you could punch, kick and bash your way to victory by knocking the hell out of everyone in your path.

Pretty sweet, right? It’s been a few years since we last saw this beloved niche title, but it looks like one game is ready to pick up where Road Rash left off.

This is Biker Bash:

Biker Bash is currently in development for the PS3, Wii U, Xbox 360 and PC. And while details are sparse, the screenshots we have give us everything we need to know: ride motorcycles, bash heads. Here’s the official explanation from the press release:

“BIKER BASH is a bike racing game that combines classic gameplay from titles like ROAD RASH/MOTORSTORM with modern fighting mechanics from STREETFIGHTER IV/FIGHT NIGHT and drags it kicking and screaming into the 21st century with next-gen graphics, gameplay, and social features… all at a downloadable price point.”

You can see more sweet screens and read all about it right here: Biker Bash

Are you amped for some more biker-on-biker violence?

Yeah, this is not Road Rash. And I am not going to be so delusional to pretend it is.

Road Rash is more than just fighting on motorbikes, it is attitude, atmosphere, and the music. Doubt this game is gonna get Soundgarden in their soundtrack.

Forget about Soundgarden.... Rob Hubbard was what gave RR it's snarling spit-in-your-dinner attitude!

This game looks COO-ELL!

The point of road rash was to win, by any means necessary. Meaning, knocking people off their bikes at break neck speed, defying the law but kicking them into an oncoming vehicle, and working your way up to the top. It never mattered how.

But if they attempt to introduce "Street fighter" ways up, as in you learn combos to one-up in combat, it is an element of the game, but it does not represent the way the game is. Since, you can be the master of fisticuffs all you like, but when that police officer tazes you, you're going down.

Win by whatever means, respect by whatever means. That is the road rash way. Not 'cinematic' moves or skills. Its smashing your way forward.

Doubt this will be anything like Road Rash as EA still holds the rights to that game. They will release it again one day soon I can tell you that. Downloadable or retail game I can't say, but they have it and it will be deloped in house.

If they make as close to road rash or near road rash its worth a purchase to me. Hopefully making this game will kick ea butt into making one.
