A lil taste of Mortal Kombat: Legacy
The L.A. Times reports that Warner Bros.' New Line Cinema label is planning to produce a new film based on the Mortal Kombat. Tapped to direct the project is Kevin Tancharoen, the man behind the viral nine part web series Mortal Kombat: Legacy.
"The new game and the online shorts prompted us to consider a reboot of a brand we hadn’t been actively thinking about," New Line president Toby Emmerich said.
The upcoming movie will reportedly feature a more "realistic take" of the Mortal Kombat universe. As for the new game, the current plan is to release it alongside the movie or potentially package the game along the movie in a DVD and Blu-ray for a 2013 release. The latest iteration of the franchise has so far sold 3 million copies.
Now, I got to admit, the web series was awesome, so this might actually work. What do you think guys?
