New Details and Pics of The Last of Us Emerge

New details and in-game pictures of The Last of Us have emerged from the ether and although the guys at Naughty Dog say you won't get to control Ellie (and therefore there will be no co-op), you won't feel as if she is dragging you down in the game. They say Ellie's AI was a main area of focus for them during development and you won't be just babysitting her. They also said that scavenging will play a huge role in the game, as your weapons degrade over time and you'll have to find replacements.

The game takes place in post-apocalyptic Pittsburgh, and the designers took pains to illustrate that. If you look at the pics over at Game Informer, you can clearly see the Fort Pitt Bridge in the background. The developers also took pains to create a vibrant, colorful world instead of the dreary, grey worlds you see in most post-apocalyptic games. The flowering vines that are reclaiming the city should create a nice juxtaposition when you are fighting for your life against fungus zombies and murderous survivors.
