NetherRealm Studios hints at “big surprise” |

Mortal Kombat 9 developer NetherRealm Studios seems to have a new project up their sleeve. Let's hope it's not a fatality. This according to a tweet NetherRealm head Ed Boon dropped on the gaming community today. “Surprise from NetherRealm Studio coming…?” said the mysterious Boon, which gets all our imaginations going.

NetherRealm Studios made their development debut with Mortal Kombat 9 this year, but when they formed as a company two years ago they bought the rights to Midway Games’ IPs, including Mortal Kombat, The Suffering, Wheelman, Spy Hunter and Joust. Any one of these properties could use a reboot with the NetherRealm touch. The obvious answer is Mortal Kombat 10, but I have another idea in mind. I’m going to go out on a limb and say that this is a new Joust game for the PlayStation Move. Who doesn’t like ostrich combat and egg catching? We do know this is an unexpected surprise -- Boon said so. Only time – and more than a little sanctioned Twitter stalking – will tell. What game are you hoping to see out of this “surprise?”
