Naughty Dog: We won't hesitate killing off Uncharted leads |

Oh, I do hope they never have to do this. Naughty Dog co-founder Evan Wells has revealed that they will have no second thoughts about killing any of the major characters in the well-loved franchise if the storyline required it.

"We're not dogmatic about anything," he said in an interview with CVG. "If that is what it takes [to advance the storyline] then that's what it takes. And not just for dramatic shock value - it would definitely have to tie into the narratie that [we're] trying to tell and expose an aspect of Drake's character that we would want to delve into."
He also gave a tip as to how the story could develop in Uncharted 3, saying that this time, it's not necessarily going to be just about Nathan. "We are trying to keep things fresh and draw certain aspects of Nate's personality out as well as the characters he's surrounded with. Chloe and Elena are back but they aren't the emphasis of the story the way they were in Uncharted 2. This time round the emphasis is on Victor Sullivan and his mentor/protege relationship with Drake."
Naughty Dog has also previously admitted that they won't mind continuing the franchise for as long as there's a story to be developed, since that each iteration in the franchise are "stand-alone adventures" anyway. Just the other night, Uncharted 3 also showed off some groove on Jimmy Fallon's Late Night show.

I'm glad to hear that their not worried about going the distance for the sake of a great story - no guts, no glory.

You cannot be emotional about it, you must write what is best for the story. As much as I would be sad to see the death of Elena, it happens, and it happens for a reason.
