Metal Gear Online is going AWOL |
Listed in: News Tags: metal gear online, mgo

Metal Gear Online, could there be any more badass an action game? Well, there are a few FPS games out there that you could say kick the shit out of MGO, but MGO is an incredibly solid, fun and enjoyable online experience and if you want to play it you've got about a four and a week to play that sucker.
Yes, Konami are shutting down the MGO servers for good on June 21st. The game originally came with Metal Gear Solid 4 as a fun little extra incentive for people to watch the movie and then have an old man running around for almost twenty hours.
So the June 21st date is already set, but like a man slowly dying from nanomachines the shop will go down in March, the character creation sometime in April till finally it all goes dark on June 21st. So Konami will be offering all their expansion pack for free between then and until the service goes completely offline.
At it's height the game had 1.3 million registered users and was pretty fun, but like The Matrix Online, The Sims Online and Waste of Time Online it all has to go some day. I partially think Konami is planning an all new online game with either Rising or an upcoming MGS release and wants to weed out their own cannibalising competition before release.

I'll try to find my MGS 4 BR Disc some time this weekend and try to frag again.
to prove to konami that there is still afan base for MGO, let's all frag again now and then before the end.

It's sad to hear this will be shutdown for good.
I hope they will replace this with something very well.

MGO2 was good before the glitchers came about. I would've very much prefered a dedicated UK server that gave full green bars, sadly the servers relied on other peoples connections and the survival mode limited it to 1 -_-. MGO1 and 2 were good games, but random skirmishes get boring after a while with any game.
Also, the Konami mods sucked at hosting Tournaments, allowing the opposite team to cheat! lol.

I remember when articles on QJ weren't bias...

I don't understand why it's so hard to report news without making an ass out of themselves.
