Lollipop Chainsaw Dev: "Funny Happy Zombie Game" experience |

Grasshopper Manufacture, a game developer which Suda51 is the head of, is ready and waiting to get this game out. I've seen some of the screencaps and they are ready to go like a tough guy in an action movie, but first they need a few things nailed down, first of all tone.
Suda51 is not really known for his subtlety in his games. For anyone who has played No More Heroes or Shadows of the Damned, know that Suda's sense of humour either clicks with you or it doesn't. He's a pretty out there guy, so when he was talking to IGN UK earlier this week, he was direct about what he wanted for Lollipop Chainsaw.
It has to be one of the best synopsis this side of Joss Whedon's Buffy, "zombie-hunting cheerleader who is working to uncover the reason behind a zombie outbreak...armed with a chainsaw." That's pretty much it and I could not be happier. It's like someone asked him what was missing from the Dead Rising series.
"A fun, happy zombie game has yet to exist," he added in the interview. "Lollipop Chainsaw is the only zombie game that has hearts and rainbows. It is a game you can enjoy with popcorn!" For those who've played his games, Suda is up there with Kojima as Game Developers who should also be filmmakers. Their style is undeniably kitsch in it's pop culture references that just oozes all over the place.
"Gritty, realistic zombie games already exist, so there is no need for us to make them. Rainbows are scattered everywhere in Lollipop Chainsaw to highlight the fact that this is a fun, but offbeat game." Did I mention how much I love this man? His focus on fun rather than what's trending is impeccable. That being said...
"I wanted to give birth to a video game heroine who supersedes past female video game characters, so here Juliet makes her debut!" enthused Suda51. Sexy women are always a plus for video games and LC is no exception.
The game is being written by James Gunn....the guy who wrote Scooby Doo, Dawn of the Dead, Slither and last year's criminally underrated Super. I cannot wait for this game to come out.
