Earlier this month we published an article featuring a slightly off topic Lego set that was in development by a group of Portal fans and today we have an update on the project. After gathering support for the project the builders of the Portal themed Lego set have achieved their goal of 10,000 supporters and have been entered into the next part of the official approval system.

And what is the next step? Trial by Lego jury of course.  They will review the submission and build models and test playability, check for any safety concerns and decide if it melds with the Lego brand. The Lego jury will be sitting down this September to review all of the submissions for this quarter that received at least 10,000 supporters like the Portal set did.  The down side is that it can take up to several months for them to decide and because Portal is owned by Valve it could have some issues with licensing right from the get go. I have contacted Valve about the project and if it is something they are interested in or even aware of but at this time I have not received a comment.  But rest assured I will update you all if I get anything from Valve in my Inbox.

Note to Lego: I'd certainly buy it.
