Disney announced today that LEGO Pirates of the Caribbean: The Video Game is now available on several current generation systems.
"Bringing together the magic and humor of the Pirates of the Caribbean world with the timeless joy of LEGO toys is a natural fit," said Adam Sussman, senior vice president of publishing, Disney Interactive Media Group. "LEGO Pirates of the Caribbean: The Video Game represents a new and exciting way of telling the story of Captain Jack Sparrow, and players of all ages will enjoy exploring the action from the movies in a way they have never experienced before."
LEGO Pirates is available on Wii, Nintendo DS, Nintendo 3DS, PlayStation 3, PSP, and Xbox 360.
"The Nintendo 3DS version of LEGO Pirates of the Caribbean: The Video Game has special features designed to take advantage of the capabilities of the new handheld system. Pirate Duel mode allows players to cross swords with nearby Nintendo 3DS owners using the StreetPass feature. With StreetPass, the Nintendo 3DS automatically detects and communicates with other Nintendo 3DS systems. When an encounter with another Nintendo 3DS is initiated, Pirate Duel pits the players against each other in a battle where they will select from a series of attacks and blocks to be utilized by their LEGO pirates. Players can participate in duels to earn Play Coins that will unlock and allow them to use new characters. By winning duels, players also gain experience points, allowing them to move up the ranks and gain new rewards including extra health, new moves, new titles and extra characters."
The new Pirates game has released ten days before the theatrical release of Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides.
