There were rumors late last year that id Software's Doom 4 was dead in the water following Rage's so-so performance. Of course, at the same time publisher Bethesda's Pete Hines denied all such rumors and said they were going ahead with Doom 4.
If that is the case and the pics below are from Doom 4, it looks like the guys at id are thinking outside the box a bit. Instead of tight corridors with space demons around every corner, we're looking at wide open environments...with demons around every corner.
Of course, this could be for another game entirely. People are already saying it's another Rage, another Fallout (not likely, doesn't really look the part), or another Quake.

Yeah I'm definitely getting a Half Life 3 feel from those pics.

These pictures look like they could be a prequel to the 3rd Doom game. You know, before Humans developed space travel and before they set foot on Mars.
