Kojima's year-long work is now meaningless

Famed creator of Metal Gear Solid, Hideo Kojima, has been posting some rather curious tweets on his Twitter account.

The tone of the tweets sound off a certain kind of frustration and resignation, referring to a project he's been working on for the past year. "I cannot bear, and cannot be positive. What I prepared minutely spending a year became meaningless."

Another translation of his tweet said thus, "I can't take it anymore (this is unbearable), I can't stay positive. The thing that I spent one year delicately preparing became meaningless."

It all sounds very cryptic, but we need not look far to remember that earlier this year, at the NGP unveiling, Kojima was talking about making a game that can be played on both the PS3 and NGP. Considering that Sony only announced the PSP Remasters a couple of days back, one cannot help but think if this is in any way related to Kojima's pinings.

He was supposed to show off this cross-platform, "taboo" title at this year's E3, happening next month. But if his sad posts are any indication, that might not be happening at all anymore.

One question here, do you have a personal grudge against Sony or something?

How is Kojima and the PSP HD remaster thing in anyway connected? Please, do elaborate on that.

if Kojima were to release a game crossplayable on PS3 and NGP, he could still do so. PSP HD remakes on the PS3 wouldn't make his NGP title suddenly meaningless, null and void.

MGS(Kojima made it) being remastered, is how they're related. How is the remaster going to effect a AAA game made for PS3/NGP specifically, going to effect it? The world may never know...

Maybe Sony wants to remaster peacewalker (which was a year's work http://www.examiner.com/video-game-in-national/mgs-peace-walker-development-time-revealed) and that upset him because he worked so hard on making that game an incredible experience for the handheld.

Also take into the consideration that it's kind of dishonouring to 'remaster' someone's work, especially to the Japanese who tend to take great pride in their work. Kojima is definitely one of these people and maybe that's just it.

I mean, if he would have known Sony was just going to have the game ported to the PS3 why would Kojima have wasted his time perfecting peacewalker for the psp when he could've gone all-out on a more powerful system?

I would completely get that if that is the case. Otherwise... what could it be?

Well, Peace Walker was released roughly a year ago, so I doubt that a tweet saying that a years worth of preparation and effort went to waste has anything to do with Peace Walker. The game has lived its natural life by now.

If, by any chance, this tweet would be about Peace Walker, which I highly doubt, his gripe should be with Konami and not with Sony.

As was the deal with PS2 HD remakes in the past, Sony isn't going to redo a third-party title. Sony would never be able to remaster Peace Walker by themselves for PS3, they need Konami's cooperation.

So, I think that Mabie (Strange name btw, how do you pronounce it anyway?) overstepped her/his boundaries in involving Sony. I am all up for speculation as to why Kojima would tweet something like that, but the reason could be anything. So, instead of writing down some far-fetched speculation and possibly creating some sort of rumor on the internet, I feel that no speculation should have been done at all, especially taking into account how cryptic the message was.

For all we know, it could have something to do with MGS Rising, something from his personal life, Konami executives could be pressuring him, much like Inafune had quarrels with Capcom.

This is most likely a technical problem having to do with something Sony did to make a year's worth of work meaningless.
Kojima can't learn anything from this.

...it whould be a remake of "Peace Walker" or "Portable Ops". Sony definitly said they whould not remake PSP-Classics and now they do it so Kojima planned a rerelease for PS3 and it became useless

i hope Metal Gear is made on the ps3 then ported to 360 an pc , we all know 360 rush DEV's all the time an just like LA NOIR 360 needs 3disc, gta4 wasn't finished 360 rush'd that..c the difference microsoft bought sum rights or wateva for gta an rockstar had 2 rush a unfinished game as that would have been a 2or3 disc for the 360. since rockstar got smart with LA NOIR they didn't make it on the 360.

all games shoud be made on the ps3 so we get the best out of DEV not a rush'd game because 360 dont have space on there old style dvd player drive. y should us gamers suffer because of a cheaply made product the 360, an we r not talkin about XBL VS PSN we r talkin about hardware. if 360 used a blueray drive it wouldn't matter but guess what they didn't

Dont you all remember that about one year ago, Kojima announced he was working on a new and revolucionary project that would be a huge sucess or a complete failure? I do think this project became a failure, that it. Simple.

This could be related to the NGP specs cut, if Kojima was using the FULL extent of the system it would effectively be a waste now, because it would have to be scrapped and restared to fit the new scheme
