Ken Levine: BioShock Infinite is Going to Explode Your Mind |

Hype is a difficult thing to gauge in the games industry. It is the nature of game companies and their developers to promise enormous things of their games, even when those things end up being fairly underwhelming in practice. Companies need to sell games, after all, and they’re not going to do it by saying their game is “pretty good.”
That being said, Irrational Games creative director Ken Levine isn’t known for hyperbole—if he says something is going to be good, it generally is. He has a certain amount of respectability in the community and has mostly used it well.

Levine, in an interview, made some big claims about BioShock Infinite. Check it:
“The plot actually gets more interesting as it goes on. The end of the game…I can't tell whether people will like it or not like it. I can say it's something we're incredibly proud of. It's like nothing you've actually experienced in a video game before. It's quite unique and quite particular to this world, these characters, and this franchise.”
I’m a big fan of studios taking chances, even if it doesn’t necessarily work out in their favor (*ahem* Mass Effect 3). The idea that Levine is unsure whether people will like the ending makes me all warm and tingly, but that’s just me.
What do you think?
