Japanese charts: PS3 is back at number one

For the week ending September 11th, the PS3 has managed to sold 64,786 units, doubling its sales from the previous week, thanks to some new software releases for the system. The 3DS on the other hand continues to slide, as it fell down one spot to number two, with the PSP also dwindling down a bit in number three.

Here's Media Create's top 10 hardware sales chart for the week ending September 11th, with last week's sales in parentheses:

  1. PS3: 64,786 (33,831)
  2. 3DS: 49,076 (54,744)
  3. PSP: 25,391 (30,192)
  4. Wii: 10,743 (11,606)
  5. DSi LL: 2,882 (3,177)
  6. DSi: 1,957 (2,453)
  7. PS2: 1,386 (1,394)
  8. Xbox 360: 1,219 (1,228)
  9. DS Lite: 51 (80)
  10. PSP Go: 13 (7)


On the software side of things, Namco Bandai's PS3 exclusive RPG Tales of Xillia debuts in the number one spot, moving 525,605 units in its first week, with Capcom's Resident Evil Revival Selection taking the second spot, Resistance 3 debuting at third and Monster Hunter Portable 3rd PS3 revamp capturing the fourth place.

    That's good news for the PS3, but I think the Tales of Xillia X Edition PS3 also helped sell some units.

    I think its amazing that PS2 is still on the list. And also people say PSP was a fail and screw up. The sales are pretty close to 3DS.

    Still not sure I we will see it. :sad:
    But on the other hand we should have fun with 3G if it gets localized. :-)

    Wish our top 10-20 video games list were something like this. Japans' pretty open-minded and cool about all sorts of video game genres, whether they're W/S/JRPGs, shooters, racers, visual novels, or Western-themed games, they have it all.

    Silly Tales characters, you are supposed to ride the horse, not kill it :sad:

    Also, it's unbelievable how much the PSP still sells when the DS is rock bottom. Have they stopped making DS games in Japan? They sure don't have that many 3DS games either...
    Nintendo is so gonna flop when Vita arrives.

    PS2 still being on the list is crazy insane!

    I know the 360 isn't very hot over there but to have the PS2 constantly beating it is just.....sad. Microsoft needs to hire external marketing experts, bad!
