Jack Tretton Finally Gets Something Right |
Listed in: News Tags: Jack Tretton, Microsoft, Sony, used games
If you’ve been following the swirling rumors regarding Microsoft and Sony’s new hardware, you probably remember reading that one or both of the consoles may block used games. None of that has been confirmed, of course, but the rumors have spurred dozens of writers, analysts and commentators to talk about what a good/bad idea it would be to prohibit the play of used titles in the next generation.

If you’re against blocking used games, you’ve just earned an unlikely, ally: Sony CEO Jack Tretton. According to Michael Pachter, who had the chance to ask Mr. Tretton directly how he felt about blocking used games, the Sony boss lands firmly on the side of the consumer.
Tretton went on record as being “opposed to blocking used games,” and noted that they were “great for consumers.” He also noted, of course, that this was only his personal opinion—the other execs at Sony may feel differently.
Nice one, Jack.
What do you think? Is Sony’s CEO right about used games?

Should they charge for a key to access online? sure.
Mainly will be great if they did that. it'll keep people from waiting for the prices to go down and for those extra cheap bastards, they'll have to pay to use it online, say for game like CoD or Battle field.
every game that has heavy online usage, Like CoD or BF, should come equiped with a code in game case with the manual, via scratch off or something.
said code is used and stored within your profile. that way you can use the ps3's online data storage and still be able to take said game to a friends house and log in with your profile and use it without having to get another code.
can i be a Sony CEO now? xD

Its stupid because it drives game sales. Like it after renting? People will buy it. The big issues is a lot of new games suck so if you rented and played it you'd never buy it. Which is why psn and I'm sure xobox 360 hardly ever get decent game demos. Because the game sucks they want you to buy it and not be able to return it because the new systems would "block used games"...
Gamefly and redbox have helped save me thousands of dollars because after renting and playingh a game I disliked I never bought it. I bought resident evil operation raccoon city, even the collector edition.... and that 75 dollar investment was useless because they game sucked so bad.
