Insomniac: Resistance 3 need not be the end of series

Although Resistance 3 is supposed to end the adventure Nathan and Joe, Insomniac believes that there's still room for more story growth.

Insomniac Games' senior designer Cameron Christian and writer Jon Paquette sat down for an interview with CVG, and here Paquette was quoted as saying:

"The franchise is really strong and I think the universe is great to play in. You saw the reveal of Burning skies [for PS Vita] over at Gamescom and that's just one example of another game that could be made on a different piece of hardware, with a different main character but in the same universe. I think it's still fertile ground."

He furthered, "We've been saying that there's so much that you could do with the Chimera and all of the weapons and everything... it's cool to see what other people would do with it."

The Resistance 3: Doomsday Edition is now up for pre-order, which comes out simultaneously with the standalone edition later this month. Insomniac is also coming out with a new single player demo with Move and 3D.

I never was a fan of extending a trilogy past the intended releases.

To me that just reeks of the developer having no new fresh ideas and also ruining the original intended story and plot by forcing new elements never intended in.

I hate it when a great series is ruined by endless sequel after sequel long after the series should have been finished until it dies not because the the developer wanted to end it, but because nobody gives a damn about it anymore.

Let it end with a bang, not a whimper!

Trilogy's nothing but a number that customers put on a story that quenches the possibility of another sequel because they too blind to see there's literary possibility beyond 3.
