The release of any game can cause fanboys and madmen to come out of the wood work. As a man of logic, reason and a student of culture often I see outlying cases of what people will do for gaming, unlike any other medium in the past thirty years...mainly because we've had this kind of moral panic with film and television over the last three to five decades.
So we already had the $1725 eBay bid and the 6000 copies stolen from a French warehouse, but did you hear the one about the Best Buy bomb scare? Or the one about someone nearly getting shot in Kansas? All for a copy of Modern Warfare 3...
Let's start with the most recent story with a plot that sounds like it's from South Park, with a Colorado man threatening to blow up a Best Buy after someone botched his pre-order. The man in question Lomorin Sar, went to the Best Buy and when they said they didn't have a copy, Mr. Sar became unhappy and instead of asking for a giftcard, waiting it out, taking his pre-order money and going elsewhere or a multitude of other things, he asked the employees what time they were finished working...so he could off them in the parking lot as they left work that day.
Then when they did not answer him, he said he would blow up the Best Buy. The employees did the sanest thing possible and called the police, who pulled Sar over on the way home and charged him with disorderly conduct. According to reports from Colorado authorities, the man has been known for multiple traffic violations and other types of disorderly conduct. Guess the game was the last straw? All in a good day's work for Colorado's finest, if you ask me.
Meanwhile in Kansas on the day of the release, a man was almost killed...again, for a copy of Modern Warfare 3. This man was Adam Freeman, no relation to Gordon. He decided to pick up a preorded copy of MW3 at the Midnight launch and then went back to his car and drove home. Unfortunately there was also David Morales, and the irony doesn't even begin and end with his last name.
He thought it'd be a better idea instead of buying, paying for and owning the game if followed Freeman back to his apartment and block him out of his parking spot and just take the game. As Adam got out of the car, Morales shouted at him to give him the game, Freeman retorted and cursed at Morales to leave him alone. Morales dropped a bullet he was loading in his gun to show he was serious and Freeman saw this as an opportunity to strike and grabbed the gun by the barrel. They struggled and then Morales ran back to his Ford Explorer and drove away. Freeman went to his apartment, called 911...then I'm assuming played his new copy of Modern Warfare 3 with the most deserved hands in all of gaming history.
After talking to the police, Freeman waited it out in his room, while cops went to the GameStop where all of this started, looked through the surveillance tapes and identified Morales. When they searched through the footage, they also found the Ford Explorer and promptly arrested Morales . Freeman was reached for comment later and said that if he had any more time to think about the situation he would have given him the game. He said it was a good game, but nowhere near "worth dying over".
Despite the insanity, bookies have actually put odds on Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3 to be the Christmas Number 1. The money over at 'Paddy Power' has it all on Modern Warfare with analysts already predicting 5.5 to 6 million copies to be bought before this story even makes it to your screen. Other games in the running include Mario Kart 7, with 40 to 1 and Gears of War with 10/1...I'm not a fan of CoD but my money would be there*

the idea is dont let Companies like naughtydog or Polyphony think that we buy crap games so they will stop producing quality games and give as 1 year craps , imagine if everybody worked like ACT$ , it would be the gaming Apocalypse ,
And remember HC gamers dont play COD anymore and most are stick on COD4

Although that doesn't necessarily mean they like them.
From playing the BF3 beta, my opinion of BF3 has worsened, and in my opinion, both games, MW3/BF3, aren't really great.
Also your post doesn't feel like you meant a lot of it, I mean after mention HC gamers, it felt like you're just going with the opinions of others.

Why do you think MW3 is all that bad?
I mean I'm personally a fan of BF3, but what else do you think is wrong with the series?

I know that infinty ward had issues and were understaffed for a while, but they were given another team to help out. I really dont see how they put any work into the game at all and still expect so much money for a rehash which is the worst in the series by a long shot IMHO. This truely has spelt the death of COD for me.
