Hitman: Absolution "Is a Mess" |

There’s a minor Internet controversy breaking out right now over a leaked review of Hitman: Absolution from the Holiday issue of PC Gamer. Apparently the game’s reviewer, Tom Francis, didn’t enjoy his experience very much—he gave the game a 62 out of 100.

The magazine scans seem to have vanished from the web, but here are the bulk of his complaints: Bad art, overused bloom, small levels and a lack of exploration. He lamented that most of the game’s objectives revolve around getting from checkpoint to checkpoint, and not actually on killing a target. He was also bummed about weapon gains not carrying over, the game’s encouragement to kill guards, and the overabundance of cut scenes.
Oh, and the PC port is so bad it asks you to “gently” click you mouse.
Quotes include:
“Hitman: Absolution is a mess. The police do not expect Blood Money is involved.”
“A passable stealth game, but one that betrays almost everything that, until now, has made Hitman great.”
Now, of course, it’s time for a fight to begin. There are already forum threads popping up all over the place from users that have access to review copies of the game refuting some or all of the things Francis noted in his review.
Guess we’ll just have to wait for the game to launch to see who is right.

I'm hoping he reviewed it on a bad day, as I've preordered mine. We shall see...
