Hackers attack Bethesda |
Listed in: News Tags: Bethesda, Codemasters, Epic Games, Hackers, Nintendo, PlayStation Network
Bethesda Softworks, the studio behind the Fallout series and the recently released Brink, has confirmed on Monday that they are the latest victim of a hacking attempt last weekend and warned its users that hackers may have stolen some personal data.

"Over the past weekend, a hacker group attempted an unlawful intrusion of our websites to gain access to data," the studio said in a blog post. "We believe we have taken appropriate action to protect our data against these attacks. While no personal financial information or credit card data was obtained, the hackers may have gained access to some user names, email addresses, and/or passwords. As a precaution, we recommend that all our fans immediately change passwords on all our sites — including our community forums, statistics site for Brink, and here on the blog.
"If your username/email address/password is similar to what you use on other sites, we recommend changing the password at those sites as well. As we don’t know what further plans the hackers may have, we suggest that you keep an eye out for suspicious emails and account activity.
"We regret any inconvenience that these attacks on us cause for you," Bethesada said. "These attacks will be evaluated to determine if there are any additional protections we might take that would be prudent."
This come on the heels of the recent cyber atack that crippled Sony, Codemasters, Nintendo UK and the recent attack on Epic Games.

But this is just getting silly. This is no longer a case of one group versus another, this is just mean-spirited.

Why would anonymous bother attacking Bethesda? They barely use disc protection. Seems to me the business with Sony has made anonymous a scape goat. It has also made glory seekers start testing the security of other high profile gaming companies.
And idiots are now all coming out of the wood work blaming "hackers" and parading their personal bullshit causes on the net.
oh noes the hackers are going to get you!
tch ...pansies.

Hacking a console open to allow us to do what we want with it (except of course pirate games), I can live with.
But senselessly hacking every company in the games industry just for the fun of it is really starting to get childish now.
I hope these asshats get caught.

If the law wanted to catch them honestly than they could just by sending something to each developer. To trace them but nope they don't care really i guess
