Arcade records are pretty incredible. For many games, it’s not just about how good you are, but how long you can play. Since there’s no pause button, a world record attempt lasts as long as it has to last, from start to finish. For instance, the marathon world record for Missile Command is just about 30 hours.

But Q-Bert is a special kind of beast. According to Kotaku, the last two attempts stalled because breaking the record would require the game be played for over 70 hours, and the two competitors had to pull out due to exhaustion. Today, however, the impossible has occurred. George Leutz is now the world record holder for Q-Bert, racking up 37,163,080 points over the course of 84 hours and 50 minutes. His buddy, Ed Heemskerk, landed in second with 28,870,165 over 63 hours.
For the record, that’s three straight days and change of standing/sitting in front of an arcade screen and playing. Crazy, right?
