Guillermo del Toro's inSANE Gets the Kibosh from THQ |
Listed in: News Tags: Guillermo del Toro, insane, THQ

Guillermo del Toro (Pan's Labyrinth, Blade II, Hellboy) is one of those directors that has a million plates always spinning at once. He's got that Pacific Rim movie, a Hulk TV show, and probably a dozen other projects going on - one of which was his video game trilogy called inSANE.
He'd been working with the troubled THQ, however, and now they've decided to shelve inSANE and return the IP rights to del Toro completely. "We have decided not to pursue further pre-production on inSANE, and have returned all of our IP rights to Guillermo del Toro," THQ pres Jason Rubin told investors during a conference call. "By canceling these explorations outside of our core business, we feel we can improve focus on our core game portfolio, which remains unchanged."
Word is that THQ wanted Volition, the studio working on inSANE, to focus more on the next Saints Row game and that del Toro's involvement in so many other projects may have had something to do with the decision, but we may never know. It sounds like the game was still far away from completion, however.
Well, if inSANE never sees the light of day we'll always have the funky trailer below to look at and wonder what new strangeness could have come from the mind of Guillermo del Toro. Would you have liked to see inSANE get made or would have just been some sort of gimmick?
