The multiplayer beta for God of War: Ascension has kicked off, so the fans will finally be able to get a handle on whether or not they'll like it - if they haven't already made up their minds, that is. By all appearances, it's looking better than many dubious fans anticipated. You apparently have to be a PlayStation Plus member to get in on the beta, though some folks are having trouble figuring out exactly how they're supposed to get access. Some that have previously signed up never received their emails, but maybe they just need to wait longer till the beta opens up to more players. You know how these things go.

In the meantime, Sony has put out another one of those "Bad Ass Moments" videos that show off various things in the game. This one has two dudes dueling in an arena and one of them is smashing the crap out of the other with a big ass hammer. Short and - kind of - sweet.

God of War: Ascension will be out March 12th in North America and March 13th in Europe.
