Gearbox still thinks reviewers were unfair witth Duke |

I recently started playing Duke Nukem Forever and it's not bad. It's not amazing either. It's not 12 years in development amazing, like say Half Life 2, but let's say it's not bad and leave at that...well, I guess Gearbox can't saying recently that everyone should be thankful that "the game exists", says Brian Martel, one of the five co-founders of Gearbox. Nothing to do with the original 3D Realms dev team, but still one of the guys responsible for bringing Duke to gamers.
The game apparently does not have the credi it deserves, according to Martel and when asked if the reception to teh game was fair he claimed that if he were to review the reviews fairly, he'd say "No" and hoped that the reviewers were a little less caustic, and was unsure where the anger came from". Martel went on to compare Duke to compare to the classic Valve game, Half Life asking if it would be reviewed as well today as it was back then...I personally say yes, except for the ending.
The icing on the cake is another co-founder, Randy Pitchford, had previously mentioned a similar comparison, claiming, the last time had a good gaming experience like DNF was "Half Life 2". I find that the sands of time tend to fall between the cracks of objectivity, especially for critics.
Their existence is to merely put forth their opinion with having a rare idea on what the gaming public likes. For example, if any gaming reviewer were to review something as popular as Farmville, there would be mass critical points for design, engagement and limitations, but would that stop the millions upon millions of people playing it...No!
Because it's what they -the players - enjoy, in the same way I enjoy or am enjoying Duke Nukem Forever. Games are becoming more about the personal experience and gameplay freedom, such as Minecraft and Left 4 Dead, with players crafting their own stories, this would explain why The Sims is probably the greatest selling series of all time but often critically meh.

Right...so we should be thankful if they gave us a honeycomb box with generic brand ones inside?
Basically that's what they're saying imo.
It's nice that they tried to end the "Forever" thing, but in this case that doesn't give a reason to give good reviews for a bad game.
If you're going to do a job, you should do it right imo.
