Listed in: News Tags: EA, Electronic Arts, gay rights, lgbt
Gay rights seems to be a hot topic at the moment, and it’s even crept its way into the gaming industry. Electronic Arts supports gay rights, and they plan to show it with an upcoming conference devoted to the issue.

New York City will be the setting next week for a one-day conference hosted by EA where discussions will take place regarding lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender issues and their place in the video game industry.
EA’s LGBT Full Spectrum Event is by invite only and will discuss the following:
- homophobia and its origin in games
- developing LGBT characters and scenarios
- differentiating between exclusive and inclusive language
- developing and promoting inclusive work environments for LGBT employees in the industry
The March 7th event will last half a day and will feature appearances by game developers and other industry professionals, as well as members of the Ford Foundation and the HRC. Brendon Ayanbadejo, linebacker for the Baltimore Ravens, will also appear to discuss gay marriage and more.
What are your thoughts on this event? Is it a good idea, or unnecessary?

It would be more beneficial for them to do a workplace awareness rather than trying to gain brownie points taking the issue to LGBT in video games. I mean there is more and more presence of LGBT in games nowadays anyway, something that a few years ago made a stir. I think its creeping in slowly. I think making a day issue of it will just incite small minded individuals to make a fuss over something so small in my opinion though its nice that companies do think about it
